Limits

  • Text only, UTF-8. Convert PDFs and Office files to text or Markdown first (unsupported_content_type).
  • At most 1 MB per file (file_too_large), 20 files and 5 MB in total per agent (knowledge_limit_reached).
  • HTML is read as text: tags, scripts and styles are dropped.

How search works

Each file is split into passages of about 1,200 characters and indexed for full-text search (English stemming). A search first looks for passages with all of the words, then any of them, and returns up to 10 passages ranked by how well they match, each with its file name. It matches words, not meaning: “price” finds “prices”, but not “cost”. The agent finds only its own files. Another agent, even in the same account, never sees them. A deleted file stops matching right away, and its stored original is removed.

Isolation

A key bound to an account sees only that account’s agents; another account’s agent answers 404 agent_not_found. Errors use the standard format: invalid_name, invalid_content, unsupported_content_type, file_too_large, knowledge_limit_reached, knowledge_file_not_found, knowledge_storage_unavailable, agent_not_found, insufficient_scope.
