The four levels
Payments always need your approval, at every level. Draft only keeps a payment as a draft. The other three ask you first.
Defaults
If you have not set anything, a bot uses these:Set it for a place
- Open the bot’s phone (see Your bot’s phone).
- In an app such as Mail, Messages, Phone or a channel like Telegram, tap the chip under the header. It shows the current level, for example Ask first.
- Pick a level. It saves straight away.
Limits
Choosing Act within limits shows three settings:- Messages per day. Counted per bot and place, per UTC day. Messages you approve count too. Leave it empty for no cap.
- Spend per day. In dollars. Leave it empty for no cap.
- Allowed actions. Messages, calls and booking. Anything not ticked is held for your approval.
Exceptions for a person
In Settings → What your bot can do on its own → Exceptions for a person, enter a phone number, email address or handle, choose where, and press Add (Ask first). Then change that person’s level in the same place. A person’s setting beats the bot’s setting for that place, which beats the all-bots setting.Where you see it
Everything the bot held, drafted or told you about lands in your Inbox. Open the card to go to the conversation. Holds that need your OK also appear as the usual approval card.Good to know
- A call that needs your OK is not placed until you approve it. The bot is told to try again once you have.
- Email keeps the mailbox’s own reply mode until you choose a level for it. Once you choose one, your level decides: Send and tell me and Act within limits reply directly, but only for a verified domain and never past the reply caps. Ask first and Draft only send the email to the review queue.
- AI apps and vendor bots that text, call or email through your bot follow the same levels.
