Your bots work on their own until something needs a person. The Needs you inbox collects all of those moments in one place, for every bot you own, so you don’t have to open each bot’s phone to find them.

What shows up

Send, Approve and Deny act on the real thing. Send on a held message posts it right away. Send on an email sends it. Nothing is a copy that can fall out of step.

Where to find it

  • Desktop and the web app: the Inbox button in the left rail, next to Phones. The number on it is how many items need you.
  • Phone and the m.allternit.com phone app: open the menu and tap Inbox. It opens as a full-screen sheet.
  • A bot’s phone: when something needs you from that bot, a banner at the top of its home screen says so (“2 things need you”). Tap it to see just that bot’s items.

Handling items

  • The main button does the job and the item leaves the list. If it can’t be done (for example email isn’t connected), the item stays and says why.
  • Dismiss (the ×) hides an item. Snooze (the clock) hides it for an hour.
  • A dismissed or snoozed item comes back if it changes: a person writes again, a task asks for you again.
  • Handling an item on one device updates the others. Items also leave on their own once they are dealt with somewhere else (you approved it in the thread, the person got an answer).

Notifications

On Allternit Desktop a new item raises the same system notification as before (new message, missed call, something waiting for approval) while the window is hidden, and the Inbox count updates at once. In the browser and on the phone app, the count refreshes every minute and whenever you come back to Allternit. Push notifications for messages and calls on those devices work as described in Call and message notifications.

For developers

The inbox is computed on read from the tables that already hold each kind of work, so it can’t drift. Routes and JSON are in the Inbox API. The client is src/lib/inbox/ (API client and store) and src/components/inbox/ (panel and rail button) in allternit-ai; the bot phone banner is in PhoneOS.tsx. Desktop refreshes the list from the notification feed (inbox_changed and every other kind).
