Status: AVAILABLE (internal). See status labels. Recovery is built from leases, heartbeats and durable records, not from a process staying alive.

Architecture contract

  • Lost holder. A lease without heartbeats expires and the node is reclaimed. A fencing token stops the old holder from writing.
  • Restart. Work state is in durable records and the ledger, so a run resumes from them.
  • Stalled wait. Timer and manual wait gates hold nodes and wake on their condition.
  • Unanswered attention. The request stays open; nothing proceeds without an answer.
  • Repeated effect. Retries of external effects need an idempotency key and an action receipt.

Current implementation

These behaviors are on main in the work runtime.
