Add a custom voice
Open Settings › Voice and choose Add voice on the Custom voice · consent on file card. This works the same in the desktop app, on ai.allternit.com (including the phone layout) and in the m.allternit.com app. You need to be signed in.- Name the voice, and say whether it is your own voice or someone else’s who has agreed. For someone else, enter their name.
- Read the consent statement. It says that the speaker agrees Allternit may copy the voice for your account’s bots, that they can revoke at any time, and that the voice won’t be used to impersonate or deceive anyone.
- Record 8–24 seconds in a quiet room while reading the prompt shown, or upload a recording.
- Tick the confirmation box and choose Save voice.
Use it
Saved voices appear in Settings › Voice and in a bot’s voice settings, marked Custom. Custom voices run on Allternit Cloud, so they use Cloud Voice minutes; a device-only voice engine can’t speak them and says so instead of falling back silently. You can keep up to 10 voices.Revoke
Choose Revoke next to a voice. The recording is deleted in the same step, the voice stops working immediately in live sessions and calls, and any bot that used it goes back to the default voice. Revoking is permanent: to use the voice again, record it again with fresh consent.Privacy
- The recording is kept in Allternit Cloud only for as long as the voice exists. The voice service holds the derived voice in memory, never on disk, and drops it when consent is revoked.
- Every time a custom voice is used, the voice service asks Allternit Cloud whether consent is still on file and refuses if it isn’t.
- Only the voice’s owner can add, list or revoke it.
- Don’t clone a voice without the speaker’s permission. If you attest to consent you don’t have, the voice can be removed and your account closed.
