The text box
The text box is a white card. When you reply to something, or attach files on Desktop, a soft grey band appears around it: the reply strip above, the attachment cards below. A thin line separates what you type from the controls:- Add files opens the menu for files, folders, screenshots, GitHub and tools. On a phone it is the round + button. See Attachments.
- The model name opens the model picker.
- The microphone starts voice mode.
- The send button stays grey until there is something to send.
Reply to part of a reply
Choose Reply under any reply, or select some text in a reply and choose Reply in the bar that appears. A Replying to strip shows the quote above the text box. Press ✕ to cancel it. When you send, the quote goes at the top of your message asReplying to: and a quoted block, so the agent sees exactly what you mean. Your message in the conversation shows the quote above your words. The quote is part of the message text, so it stays after a reload and on your other devices. Quotes longer than 600 characters are shortened.
Answering an agent question
When an agent asks you something, the question card shows the question, then numbered choices:- Click a choice, or press its number key (1–9) on Desktop, to answer. A single-choice question is answered as soon as you pick.
- Questions that allow several answers or your own words have a Next or Send button.
- Skip question skips only that question. When several are asked, the dots show where you are, and you can click an earlier dot to go back.
- ✕ declines the whole set.
While an answer is being made
- A small rounded pill shows what the agent is doing now, such as “Creating report.csv”.
- While the agent writes a file, a grey placeholder in the file’s shape holds its place: a table for CSV and spreadsheets, a page for documents, lines for code, a frame for web pages. After 3 seconds a soft light runs around its edge. With reduced motion turned on, nothing moves.
