Allternit can notify you when something needs you, even while the app is closed. It works the same on Allternit Desktop (while it’s running), ai.allternit.com and the m.allternit.com phone app. First turn notifications on for each device: see Call and message notifications.

What notifies you

Each kind of event has its own switch. These are on until you turn them off: These are off until you turn them on: Routine failures show inside the app while it is open: a notification with Open routines, the bot’s status line in the rail, and Inbox → Needs attention. They are not sent as phone or browser push notifications. See Bot routines. Incoming calls always ring a device that has notifications on. To stop rings on a device, turn notifications off on it. You get at most one message notification per conversation every 20 seconds, and at most 40 an hour, so a busy thread doesn’t flood you. Something that happened more than 12 hours ago (for example on a computer that was offline overnight) doesn’t notify you when it finally arrives. It’s still in Allternit. Permission asks from a coding session on a paired computer notify you through that session’s own remote-control notifications on m.allternit.com, not through this list.

Change what notifies you

Open Settings, then Notifications, and scroll to Phone and browser notifications. Each event above has a switch, with its name and what it covers. A switch you haven’t changed says Default; one you have changed shows Reset to default. A change saves as soon as you flip it. If it can’t be saved, the switch goes back and says why. These switches are for your whole account: they apply to every device you’ve turned notifications on for. On ai.allternit.com and the m.allternit.com phone app, the same section shows whether this device has notifications on, with a button to turn them on. The switches higher up the page (replies, scheduled tasks, bot threads, approvals, hand-offs, calls, usage limits, banners and sound) only change how Allternit notifies you on the device you’re using. Usage alerts follow your cloud budget’s alert setting: you get one when your spending crosses your alert threshold (80% unless you changed it) and one when it reaches your whole monthly budget. Each comes once a month. For developers: the switches use Notification preferences.
